Avani’s First Song on Stage
A story about stage fright in kids
Avani loved to sing at home. She sang to her toys, to the flowers, and even to the birds outside her window. But when she thought about singing in front of lots of people, her tummy felt funny and her hands got sweaty.
One day, her teacher said, “We are having a talent show! Who wants to join?”
Avani’s friends shouted, “Avani should sing! She has the sweetest voice!”
Avani wanted to, but she whispered, “I’m scared.”
That night, Avani sat in her garden. A little bird flew down and chirped happily. It sounded like the bird was saying, “Be brave, Avani!”
On the day of the show, Avani walked onto the big stage. The lights were bright, and many eyes looked at her. Her tummy felt full of butterflies.
She remembered the bird’s song and her friends cheering. She took a big breath and started to sing.
At first, her voice was small. But then she saw her friends smiling, and she felt braver. Her song grew louder and brighter.
When she finished, everyone clapped and cheered. Avani smiled wide. She had done it!
From that day, Avani knew: even if you feel scared, you can still be brave—and wonderful things can happen.
